Nationals prospect Stephen Strasburg, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2009 Draft, allowed two hits over 3 1/3 scoreless innings in his professional debut as Phoenix handled Scottsdale. The hard-throwing right-hander faced 11 batters, walked one, struck out two and earned the victory. Josh Bell supported Strasburg with three hits and three RBIs, while fellow Orioles farmhand Brandon Snyder contributed two hits and scored three times. With one eye on the National League Championship Series, Dodgers prospect Andrew Lambo collected four hits and an RBI, falling a homer shy of the cycle, as the Javelinas rolled to victory in the Battle of Peoria. Casper Wells went 3-for-5 with a homer, three RBIs and three runs scored, while fellow Tigers farmhand Scott Sizemore went deep for the third time in two games for the winners. Rangers first-rounder Tanner Scheppers and Zach Kroenke (Yankees) each tossed two scoreless frames out of the Surprise bullpen.
