Dodgers reinstate Josh Beckett from the disabled list; option Jose Dominguez
LOS ANGELES - The Los Angeles Dodgers today reinstated right-handed pitcher Josh Beckett from the 15-day disabled list (right thumb contusion) and optioned right-handed pitcher Jose Dominguez to Triple-A Albuquerque. Beckett will start tonight's game vs. Detroit.
Beckett was acquired by the Dodgers on August 25, 2012, and will be making his 2014 debut tonight. In his career, the 2003 World Series MVP owns a 132-100 record with a 3.94 ERA and ranks fifth among active pitchers (min. 1,500 IP) with an average of 8.34 strikeouts per 9.0 innings. Beckett last pitched in the Majors on May 13, 2013 vs. Washington and made three starts during 2014 Cactus League play, posting a 0-1 record with a 5.63 ERA (5 ER/8.0 IP) before landing on the disabled list with a right thumb contusion on March 19. The three-time All-Star last appeared in a rehab start for Single-A Rancho Cucamonga on April 4 and pitched 4.0 innings.
Dominguez has three relief appearances for Los Angeles this season, holding opponents to a .182 batting average (2-for-11).
