LOS ANGELES -- Dodgers catcher A.J. Ellis underwent arthroscopic surgery to debride the meniscus in his left knee Tuesday and will be out four to six weeks, the club announced.
Ellis was injured Saturday when he was thrown out at the plate trying to score from second base on Andre Ethier's pinch single in the seventh inning of the Dodgers' 7-2 loss to the Giants. Ellis had similar surgery on the same knee after the 2012 season.
The Dodgers are expected to recall Tim Federowicz today to share catching duties with Drew Butera.
Dr. Neal ElAttrache performed the 20-minute procedure.
