• The Padres released 11 Minor League players Friday including two with Major League service time: infielder Brandon Wood and left-handed pitcher Zach Braddock. The team also released infielders Michael Bass, Adam Ford, Miguel Jimenez, Gabe Suarez and Anthony Torres, catcher Danny Masiello, right-handed pitchers Vladimir De La Cruz and Tyler Hale and left-handed pitcher Levy Miller.
Wood played parts of five seasons in the big leagues for the Angels (2007-11) and Pirates (2011). He has a career line of .186/.225/.289 in 751 big league plate appearances. Braddock appeared in 71 games for the Brewers from 2010-11 when he posted a 4.41 ERA.
• Outfielder Alex Dickerson, who is out with a sprained left ankle, returned from San Diego before Friday's workout after meeting with team doctors. His prognosis is essentially the same -- a severe sprain that could means he starts the Minor League season on the disabled list.
• Infielder Jace Peterson was reassigned to Minor League camp Friday, bringing the number of active players in big league camp to 42. Peterson, who will likely begin the season with Double-A San Antonio, hit .179 in 28 at-bats this spring, seeing time in the infield, mostly at shortstop and third base.
