Denorfia will miss a few days with sore shoulder

PEORIA, Ariz. -- Outfielder Chris Denorfia will likely miss a few days with a sore right shoulder, manager Bud Black said Friday.

Denorfia was in the starting lineup Thursday against the Giants but was a late scratch. Black said he's been told by team doctors that there's nothing serious going on, just that it needs some rest.

"He's feeling better but he's still sore," Black said. "Deeno and the doctors just think that this is a bump in the road.

Something might have got a little angry with the shoulder. But he feels confident that he's going to be fine."

Denorfia said everything is just precautionary at this point.

"I'm just taking it easy for a couple of days. I'm going to see the doctor tomorrow," Denorfia said. "But I'm not overly worried. I didn't want to push it yesterday."

Denorfia said he was encouraged that the soreness wasn't brought on by a specific incident, but seemed to be more cumulative.

"It was sort of a build-up," he said.

Denorfia is hitting .207 this spring in 29 at-bats with two steals and two RBIs.
