Nick Markakis served as the designated hitter Saturday because he's dealing with a little left shoulder tendinitis. Showalter said he wanted to give Markakis another two days off, with the veteran scheduled to make the team's trip to Clearwater on Monday.

• Catcher Matt Wieters (ankle) took batting practice Friday, but said that his ankle is still a little stiff and the team is playing it safe in giving him an extra couple of days. The plan is for him to play Monday.

Miguel Gonzalez will start Sunday's game, with Brian Matusz and Kevin Gausman traveling to Monday's road contest and Ubaldo Jimenez starting Monday night's home game.

Adam Jones is expected to travel to Dunedin for Sunday's game. Jones has been in Baltimore the past four days for the birth of his son.
