Dominicans to celebrate World Baseball Classic title

The world champions will finally be feted on their home soil.

Several members of the Dominican Republic's 2013 World Baseball Classic team will be honored with a parade in their homeland on Thursday. Robinson Cano, the Most Valuable Player in the World Baseball Classic, is expected to attend, as are Jose Reyes and Hanley Ramirez.

The Dominican Republic became the first team to go undefeated in the World Baseball Classic, running an 8-0 record and seizing the championship with a 3-0 win over Puerto Rico. Reyes doubled and tripled in that game, and the Dominican pitchers threw a three-hit shutout to take the victory.

Thursday's parade will begin at Estadio Quisqueya at 3 p.m. ET, and it will continue through Villa Maria and Don Bosco before returning to the starting point for the grand finale. The players will get their rings before the parade begins, and following the parade, there will be a fireworks show.
