More surgery looms as Kalish set for neck procedure

Red Sox outfielder Ryan Kalish is headed for yet another surgery.

The 25-year-old Kalish, who has not played this season after having right shoulder surgery in January, will have cervical fusion surgery on his neck in Los Angeles on Tuesday. He was limited to 36 big league games and 33 Minor League contests last season because of left shoulder surgery.

In 89 career games with Boston, Kalish has compiled a .243 batting average with 13 stolen bases, four home runs and 29 RBIs. The Red Sox selected Kalish in the ninth round of the 2006 First-Year Player Draft. In parts of seven Minor League seasons, he is a .279 hitter with 45 homers.
