• Bochy said pitcher Chad Gaudin will be ready to start Sunday afternoon in the series finale against the Dodgers. Gaudin suffered an upper forearm bruise on his right arm during the last homestand and was placed on the disabled list June 24, retroactive to June 21.
• The Dodgers and Giants both entered the series under .500, and neither can exit it with an even record, even with a sweep. When San Francisco hosted Los Angeles last July, the clubs entered the series in first and second, respectively.
• The Giants have mustered just seven hits the past three games. According to the Elias Sports Bureau, only one other time has the club produced a total that low since moving to San Francisco: April 18-21, 1978.
