Wada reinstated from DL, optioned to Norfolk

BALTIMORE -- The Orioles announced on Friday that they reinstated left-hander Tsuyoshi Wada from the 60-day disabled list and optioned him to Triple-A Norfolk, where he has already been pitching.

Wada's 30-day rehab assignment was scheduled to end this weekend, however, and his contract stipulated that he'd need to agree to remain in the Minors. He apparently cleared the move and will stay in Triple-A.

Wada, working his way back from last May's Tommy John surgery, has struggled for the Tides lately. He is 1-4 with an 8.14 ERA in six starts, allowing 26 runs (22 earned) on 33 hits and 13 walks with 20 strikeouts over 24 1/3 innings.

He signed a two-year, $8.14 million contract with Baltimore in December 2011, though he has yet to throw a pitch for the Orioles.
