"It was the catcher talking," Cano told MLB.com. "He said that I was giving signs. When he first said something, he came to the mound and had his mask on. And then after that, they struck out Vernon [Wells] and I said, 'Throw the ball over the plate,' you know what I mean?"
After an intentional walk to Mark Teixeira, Cano was stranded at second base. Travis Hafner flied out against Okajima, and A's reliever Jesse Chavez entered to strike out both Kevin Youkilis and Wells to end the inning.
As the Athletics left the field, some jawing between Cano and Norris was captured by the YES Network's television feed. Cano finished 3-for-6 with two doubles and a two-run homer in the Yankees' loss.
