The first matchup of the College World Series is set, and it features a pair of teams that sealed a trip to Omaha by the slimmest of margins on Monday.

Mississippi State and Oregon State each advanced to college baseball's hallowed ground with nail-biting, one-run victories, and they'll square off Saturday at 3 p.m. ET to kick off the 67th edition of the College World Series.

The eighth and final team to advance to Omaha will be decided Tuesday afternoon after Game 3 of the series between North Carolina and South Carolina was rained out on Monday.

Mississippi State and Virginia dealt with weather issues of their own on Sunday and had to resume a suspended game with the Bulldogs ahead, 5-3, in the seventh inning. Mississippi State added an insurance run in the frame, and it proved crucial as the Cavaliers -- ranked as the national No. 6 seed -- scored two in the ninth to cut the game to 6-5, but fell just short.

Pirates sixth-round Draft pick Adam Frazier keyed the Bulldogs victory with a pair of RBI singles. Hunter Renfroe, the first-round pick of the San Diego Padres, went 1-for-4 and scored a run.

In the nightcap, national No. 3 seed Oregon State held on for a 4-3 victory over Kansas State in the third and final game of the Corvallis Super Regional. First baseman Daniel Hayes, a 13th-round pick of the White Sox, blasted a two-run homer in the second inning, putting the Beavers out in front.

Philadelphia's fifth-round pick, Ben Wetzler, tossed 7 2/3 solid innings, consistently working in and out of trouble. Despite allowing five walks and nine hits, he managed to hold the Wildcats to three runs, and Matt Boyd -- Toronto's sixth-round pick -- came on for the save.

The OSU-MSU showdown on Saturday will be followed by Louisville-Indiana at 8 p.m. in what will be the Hoosiers' first-ever College World Series appearance. Sunday's first game will pit Tuesday's winner against NC State, and the nightcap pits UCLA and No. 4 LSU.
