Fan in serious condition after assault at Orioles game

HOUSTON -- Matt Fortese, a Yankees fan who wore his team's cap to Wednesday's Orioles game, was assaulted at Camden Yards during Baltimore's game against the Washington Nationals and is listed in serious condition at the Maryland Shock Trauma Center.

Fortese suffered a skull fracture, and, according to reports, two men have been charged in the incident: Gregory Fleischman and Michael Bell.

The Orioles have not issued a statement on the matter and declined comment on the incident.

Fortese was on a second date and had endured heckling from the men the section above him for about an hour, according to the Baltimore Sun, before one of them threw a beer that hit the couple. Fortese jumped up onto the railing and approached the men, arguing with them when he was punched in the head. The blow sent him over the railing and he hit his head on the concrete below.

Bell was reportedly charged with second-degree assault and disorderly conduct, while Fleischman will face the same as well as first-degree assault.
