The Dodgers scored seven runs in the fourth inning and a had a 7-1 lead when manager Clint Hurdle removed Helton, inserted Ian Stewart at third base and moved Garrett Atkins from third to first.
Rockies manager Clint Hurdle said he pulled Helton immediately as a precaution after receiving word from head athletic trainer Keith Dugger. Hurdle said he has not heard of Helton having a history of migraines.
Helton, who left the park before reporters could talk to him, had gone 0-for-2, with a double-play grounder in the third inning. Helton is hitting .338 with six home runs and 31 RBIs. He had multiple hits in three of his previous four games and home runs in two of them.
