KANSAS CITY -- There were some unexpected visitors in the Angels' dugout Sunday morning. A swarm of bees took up residence in the visitors' dugout at Kauffman Stadium and a beekeeper was called in to remedy the situation before the 1:10 p.m. CT start.

After the game on Saturday night, groundskeepers discovered the bees in the dugout and did their best to clear it out. This morning, however, a smaller group had returned, so they had to take further action.

Angels pitcher Kevin Jepsen returned from the disabled list on Sunday after a rehab assignment with the Triple-A Salt Lake Bees. The joke in the Angels' clubhouse was that maybe he brought them with him.

"Apparently so," Jepsen said with a laugh. "They locked us out of the dugout so they could take care of it."

Kauffman Stadium has had trouble with bees in the past. Every once in a while they show up in some part of the stadium, but this was the first year they had breached the dugout. Last year, they gathered on a camera stand behind home plate.
