Patrick Renna and Chauncey Leopardi, stars of “The Sandlot,” celebrating its 20th anniversary, dropped by Twins Live during their visit to Minneapolis this weekend to talk baseball.
“The Sandlot” was far and away my favorite movie growing up – my friends and I would use our front yards, back yards…the street – pretty much any space available, to play some pickup baseball. That’s probably the biggest reason the movie resonates with me so much.
Hearing the Twins players talk about the impact the movie had on them is especially cool – albeit a little depressing to think about how far removed we are from those days.
The best part about “The Sandlot” celebration this weekend came during the rain delay of Sunday’s Red Sox/Twins game when Target Field aired the movie a few hours earlier than expected.
Best rain delay EVER.
