The Reds announced that they signed outfielder Joe Mather to a Minor League contract and assigned him to Double-A Pensacola. Mather, who had been playing independent ball in the Atlantic League when signed, spent 2012 with the Cubs and has also played for the Cardinals and Braves. He is a .219 hitter over 229 career games in the big leagues.
