Burnett to meet with specialist about forearm irritation

ANAHEIM -- Left-hander Sean Burnett, restricted to throwing off flat ground since landing on the disabled list with left forearm irritation, is scheduled to visit renowned orthopedist Dr. James Andrews in Florida on Monday.

Burnett, out of action since last Saturday, does not expect anything to come of the visit but has had arm troubles in the past and wants to make sure everything checks out.

"It feels fine, but I haven't thrown off a mound," said Burnett, who is eligible to come off the DL on May 12.

The Angels reliever had Tommy John surgery in September 2004 and also had surgery this past offseason to remove two bone spurs from his throwing elbow.

After visiting with Andrews on Monday morning, Burnett plans to fly to Houston that afternoon to rejoin his teammates.
