Hall returns to Brewers' lineup

CINCINNATI -- Three days after he experienced tightness in his right hamstring and after missing two games as he recovered, Brewers third baseman Bill Hall returned to the lineup Thursday.

"I'm 100 percent," said Hall, batting seventh and playing his normal third base. "Everything is fine. A couple days, and I'm right back in there."

Hall injured himself Monday while making a diving catch in left field during the first inning against Pittsburgh. He started in place of the injured Ryan Braun as Milwaukee manager Ken Macha wanted to get an extra right-handed bat in the lineup.

Hall missed Tuesday's game as he rested, and although he tried to talk his way into the lineup Wednesday, Macha and team trainer Roger Caplinger decided the conditions were too wet for Hall to take a chance.

On Thursday, though, Hall didn't have to do any lobbying. When he entered the clubhouse, his name already was on the lineup card.

The only downside for the Brewers: Craig Counsell, who went 4-for-6 Wednesday while filling in for Hall, didn't get the start.

"You feel bad for the next guy," Macha said. "You get four hits, and you're on the bench the next day."
