Worth noting

• Padres outfielder Mark Kostay has a mild left hamstring strain sustained in Saturday's game that manager Bud Black considers day to day. Kotsay is also battling flu-like symptoms.

• Sunday was Military Opening Day at Petco Park. The Padres honored all branches of the military in a pregame ceremony, and soldiers were in attendance for the game. As they do every Sunday home game, the Padres wore camouflage jerseys and green hats.

• Padres outfielder Chris Denorfia snapped his nine-game hitting streak on Sunday. He was 0-for-4 with two strikeouts.
