Major League Baseball has issued the following discipline as a result of the incident that took place during the bottom of the sixth inning of last night's game between the Los Angeles Dodgers and the San Diego Padres. Joe Garagiola, Jr., Senior Vice President of Standards and On-Field Operations for Major League Baseball, made the announcement.
Outfielder Carlos Quentin of the Padres received an eight-game suspension and an undisclosed fine for his actions, which included charging the mound and inciting the bench-clearing incident.
Infielder Jerry Hairston, Jr. of the Dodgers received a one-game suspension and an undisclosed fine for his actions during the incident.
Quentin and Hairston have appealed their suspensions and will be active for tonight's games. The suspensions will be held in abeyance until the process is complete.
