Matsuzaka making progress

CLEVELAND -- Daisuke Matsuzaka threw from 120 feet on Monday, and manager Terry Francona expects the right-hander to throw a bullpen session on Wednesday.

Matsuzaka is on the 15-day disabled list with a mild strain in his right shoulder, and the way the Red Sox are playing, there's no need to rush him back. Francona's been getting superb contributions from the young arms he's been using.

But he'd welcome back Dice-K tomorrow if he were ready to return. He's not.

"There's a pretty good chance at the end of this road trip that we'll send him out to pitch somewhere," Francona said. "But all we really care about is him feeling good and feeling strong.

"We really care about how he's feeling and not what we put on paper."
