• No surprise that Baltimore's Chris Davis got the American League Player of the Week award. When told that fact, Maddon chirped: "That just should have been player of the month, because there's nothing else that anybody can accumulate over the next couple of weeks that's going to surpass what he did the first week. Just give him the whole month."
• Fuld, who missed much of Spring Training due to a right-hamstring problem, said all is well with his leg. "Other than having to do the maintenance work when I get out there, I don't see it as an issue. … I can't be successful at this level unless I can run."
• The Rays are playing 26 games in 27 days to begin the season, with Thursday in Boston the lone off-day. Fifteen of the Rays first 22 games are against teams that reached the postseason in 2012.
