Royals release right-hander Moscoso

SURPRISE, Ariz. -- The Royals asked unconditional release waivers on right-handed pitcher Guillermo Moscoso on Wednesday.

Moscoso appeared in three Cactus League games, giving up five runs, seven hits and three walks in five innings. He had one loss and a 9.00 ERA.

The Royals claimed Moscoso on waivers from the Rockies on Nov. 2. He had pitched for the Rangers, A's and Rockies with an 11-12 Major League record and 4.16 ERA in 57 games, including 24 starts.

The move reduced the Royals' 40-man roster to 39 and the camp roster to 52 players, including pitcher Felipe Paulino, who is on the disabled list.
