DR hopeful to add Beltre in second round

CLEARWATER, Fla. -- Dominican Republic manager Tony Pena won't rule out the possibility that Rangers third baseman Adrian Beltre, who has been sidelined with right calf tightness, might be added to the club's roster for the World Baseball Classic's second round if the team advances.

Pena laughed and said he'd noticed that Beltre had played his first game of the spring on Monday.

"It's possible," Pena added.

The second round for teams that advance from Pools C and D begins on March 12 at Marlins Park in Miami.
