Twins may add another rotation candidate

|
MINNEAPOLIS -- Twins general manager Terry Ryan hinted he might not be done making moves before pitchers and catchers report to Spring Training on Feb. 10.

Ryan, speaking at the annual media luncheon on Friday at Target Field, said there's still a chance the Twins will add pitching help.

"We still have our eye on the free-agent market," Ryan said. "There are a couple of guys who are of interest to us. So we'll continue to look."

The Twins have been linked to free-agent left-hander Joe Saunders in recent weeks, and reportedly made him an offer around the Winter Meetings in early December.

Minnesota's rotation is currently set to include Scott Diamond and new additions Vance Worley, Mike Pelfrey and Kevin Correia, with the fifth spot up for grabs.

Candidates for the final spot include prospect Kyle Gibson, who is coming off Tommy John surgery, and starters from last season such as Liam Hendriks, Cole De Vries and Samuel Deduno. Veteran right-hander Rich Harden, who was signed to a Minor League deal, is also a candidate.
