Miguel Abreu, who spent last season with the Phillies' Double-A affiliate, went 5-for-6 with a homer, three RBIs and four runs scored to send the Criollos past the Gigantes. Major League veteran Javier Vazquez scattered six hits over five shutout innings for Caguas, which got three hits and three RBIs from Carlos Rivera. Former Major Leaguer Chris Pettit had two hits, including a solo homer, for Carolina. Box score

Reds prospect Neftali Soto drove in three runs and Jose Ruiz slugged a three-run homer as the Cangrejeros dropped the Indios into a first-place tie in the round-round playoffs. Sergio Miranda went 2-for-2 with an RBI and a run scored to raise his postseason average to .405 for Santurce, wihle Dodgers prospect Yasiel Puig smacked a two-run homer and doubled in a losing effort. Royals farmhand Paulo Orlando capped a four-hit night with an RBI single that sparked a six-run eighth inning as the Cardenales stormed past the Caribes.
