KANSAS CITY -- White Sox manager Robin Ventura said that Francisco Liriano will be the starting pitcher in Thursday's series finale against the Royals.
It'll be Liriano's second straight start since rejoining the White Sox rotation. He went 2-1 in his first seven games with Chicago -- all starts -- but posted a 5.45 ERA. After one relief appearance, in which he surrendered two runs without getting an out, he returned to a starting role and pitched great on Sep. 15.
In that last start against his old team, the Twins, Liriano went seven innings and allowed just two runs on one hit. He struck out nine batters, a single-game high for him since joining the White Sox.
Liriano will oppose right-hander Jeremy Guthrie in the series finale.
