KANSAS CITY -- The Angels fell in stunning walk-off fashion on Saturday night -- dropping the second game of their weekend series with the Royals, 3-2. With the Angels leading, 2-0, in the ninth, closer Ernesto Frieri replaced Zack Greinke and allowed a two-run game-tying homer to Billy Butler and a game-winning home run to Salvador Perez in a four-pitch span.

Despite the loss, the Angels remained 2 1/2 games behind the Orioles -- who dropped a 5-2 decision to the A's on Saturday -- for the second American League Wild Card spot. The Yankees' win over the Rays broke the tie with Baltimore atop the AL East, and put the Orioles in sole possession of the second Wild Card.

The Angels wrap up their series in Kansas City on Sunday before back-to-back home series against the division-leading Rangers and White Sox.

"We're professionals. We've been here before. We've all gone through losses like this. We've all gone through the highs and lows, and we know how to bounce back. It's just what we do," Angels catcher Chris Iannetta said. "It's a cliché to say we take it one game at a time. It's a cliché to say we're going to go try to win tomorrow, but that's the truth. That's what we try to do. ... To say it doesn't affect you when we lose, that's false too because we care so much, but we know how to turn the page."

Tiebreaker scenarios
A tiebreaker games will be played to determine a division winner, even if the tied clubs are assured of participating in the postseason. If a division championship tiebreaker is necessary, the head-to-head record between the clubs will determine home-field advantage. If the head-to-head record is tied, then division record will be the next tiebreaker.

If two clubs are tied for the two Wild Card berths, home-field advantage will be determined by the head-to-head record between the clubs. If the head-to-head record is tied, then division record will be the next tiebreaker.
