• The Padres have notified Triple-A manager Terry Kennedy and pitching coach Steve Webber that their contracts won't be renewed for the 2013 season. Kennedy recently completed his third season as the manager for the Padres' Triple-A affiliate. Webber was in his third season as pitching coach in Tucson. No replacements have been named as of yet. Tucson finished the season with a 56-88 record.

"TK and Webby were both dedicated, hard workers but we felt we needed to change the environment in Tucson," said Randy Smith, the Padres vice president of player development and international scouting.

• Third baseman Chase Headley received his National League Player of the Month Award for August on Friday, as a package arrived with his mounted glass plaque. Headley isn't quite sure where to put it, as he and his wife, Casey, recently closed on a home in Tennessee. Once he decides, it might go somewhere by the baseball that he got his 100th RBI with recently. Headley isn't a big memento collector, though he has a few items he might eventually display.

• Fort Wayne outfielder Travis Jankowski will miss the rest of the Midwest League championship series. He suffered a broken rib after being hit by a pitch in the first inning of the TinCaps victory Thursday over Wisconsin. The best-of-five series, which is tied after two games, will resume on Saturday. He was the 44th overall selection in June's First-Year Player Draft. After a slow start, he finished the regular season with a .282 average and 17 stolen bases in 59 games.
