CHICAGO -- Sole possession of first place in the American League Central remains with the White Sox after Thursday night's home series finale against the Tigers was postponed due to rain. The game will be made up on Monday at 1:10 p.m. CT.

The rainout allowed the White Sox to miss facing Justin Verlander, who is 12-1 in his last 13 decisions against the South Siders. The Tigers, meanwhile, won't have to face Chris Sale, who is 8-0 with a 1.20 ERA over his last nine home starts.

Adam Dunn, who has missed seven straight games and nine total because of a strained right oblique, could return on Monday. But the always affable Dunn chose not to talk to the media on Thursday because there was no news to be shared, and no real progress appeared to have been made.

Monday's makeup matchup will be Gavin Floyd against Doug Fister.

"You just go out and try to do your thing," Floyd said. "Just try to pitch."

Magic numbers
To calculate a team's magic number, take the number of games it has remaining and add one. Then subtract the difference in the number of losses between that team and its closest pursuer.

Tiebreaker scenarios
A tiebreaker game will be played to determine a division winner, even if the tied clubs are assured of participating in the postseason. If a division championship tiebreaker is necessary, the head-to-head record between the clubs will determine home-field advantage. If the head-to-head record is tied, then the division record will be the next tiebreaker.
