Homestand Highlights: Sept. 14-23

The Royals host the Los Angeles Angels, Chicago White Sox and Cleveland Indians during the upcoming nine-game homestand, September 14-23.

As a thank you to fans for their tremendous support during the 2012 campaign, the Royals have a number of fun promotions and special events planned for the homestand.  Highlights include the annual Futures Night festivities, a salute to our service men and women with Armed Forces Night, an INK Student Night and Local Music Showcase, Singles Night and the final Frenchy Quarter Thursday of the season.  The final home weekend of the season features George Toma’s induction into the Royals Hall of Fame, a fan-favorite Buck Night and Fireworks Finale Spectacular, Oktoberfest, Fan Appreciation Night presented by Sprint and more!

Friday, September 14 – Los Angeles Angels vs. Royals, 7:10 p.m.

  • Futures Night – The Royals salute the Pitchers and Players of the Year from each minor league affiliate prior to the game.  A majority of the players are expected to participate in an autograph session from 5:30-6:15 p.m. at Gate A near the Royals Hall of Fame before receiving their awards in a special pregame ceremony.
  • Buck Night – Hot dogs, small Pepsi products and peanuts are just $1 each all night long.  www.royals.com/fanvalue.
  • Fireworks Friday – A spectacular fireworks show after every Friday home game, presented by Hy-Vee and Pepsi.
  • University of Kansas Hospital Health Awareness Night: Prostate Cancer Prevention –The University of Kansas Hospital will address the importance of prostate cancer screenings by distributing information cards at the gates and sponsoring a special CrownVision message.

Saturday, September 15 – Los Angeles Angels vs. Royals, 6:10 p.m.

  • Armed Forces Night presented by Budweiser and the National World War I Museum at Liberty MemorialJoin us for a special pregame tribute to honor our Armed Forces.  The event will include a military guest speaker, Brigadier General Eric Overturf, Commander of the 442nd Fighter Wing at Whiteman Air Force Base, and will feature HCSC Donald Ballard, a Medal of Honor winner with the United States Navy.  For details, visit www.royals.com/armedforcesday.

  • 610 Saturday – Enjoy great activities and live music from the Mickey Finn Band prior to the game in the Outfield Experience.  www.royals.com/610saturdays
  • Holland to Appear at Kansas Sampler – Pitcher Greg Holland will meet fans and sign autographs at Kansas Sampler, located at 9750 Quivira across from Oak Park Mall in Lenexa, Kan., from 11 a.m. to noon.  The event is free to the public.

Sunday, September 16 – Los Angeles Angels vs. Royals, 1:10 p.m.

  • Family FunDay Sunday – Enjoy live family-friendly entertainment in the Outfield Experience courtesy of Radio Disney.  All-Day Play Passes for unlimited activities in the Outfield Experience are available for just $10.  www.royals.com/sunday.  
  • Fun Run presented by Sprint – All fans can run the bases after the game (conditions permitting).

Tuesday, September 18 – Chicago White Sox vs. Royals, 7:10 p.m.

Wednesday, September 19 – Chicago White Sox vs. Royals, 7:10 p.m.

  • INK Student Night – Rivals Outfield Box or Hy-Vee Infield tickets are available for all Wednesday home games for high school and college students with valid ID at the Kauffman Stadium Box Office for just $7.  Seating is subject to availability.  All Student Nights include a $7 hot dog and beverage special at the Boulevard Grill in the Outfield Experience. 
  • INK Local Music Showcase – Catch a free pregame concert on us.  Every Wednesday INK Student Night also features live local music prior to the game in the Outfield Experience.  Antennas Up will be performing prior to the White Sox-Royals game.  For details, visit www.royals.com/studentnight.  
  • College Fair – Join us for the College Fair inside of Gate A from 5:30 p.m. until first pitch.  Various colleges and universities will be in attendance including Kansas State, UMKC, Avila University and more.  Students are eligible to purchase INK Student Night tickets.

Thursday, September 20 – Chicago White Sox vs. Royals, 7:10 p.m.

  • Singles Night – It’s Singles Night at the ballpark.  The pregame party, featuring one of KC’s hottest DJs, will begin at 5:30 p.m. in the Captain Morgan Bar.  The Singles Night package, priced at just $15, includes a Hy-Vee Infield ticket and $10 in loaded value to use at the Captain Morgan Bar on the View Level.  www.royals.com/singlesnight.

Friday, September 21 – Cleveland Indians vs. Royals presented by Sprint, 7:10 p.m.

  • Oktoberfest – October is just around the corner but there is always reason to celebrate early!  Join us for an exclusive pre-game event on the Budweiser Patio to celebrate Oktoberfest with the Royals.  There will be German-style beer samplings, a select menu of German tastings, and great giveaways, courtesy of Budweiser.   • Toma Inducted into Royals Hall of Fame – Former groundskeeper George Toma will become the 25th member of the Royals Hall of Fame when inducted during a special pregame ceremony, which was rescheduled due to the rainout on August 31.  Toma originally came to Kansas City in 1957 as head groundskeeper for the Kansas City Athletics and served as Royals Head Groundskeeper from the club’s inception in 1969 through the 1995 season.  Toma has also done extensive work with the Kansas City Chiefs and National Football League.
