PHILADELPHIA -- Class A Modesto's victory in their first-round California League playoff series has given the Rockies a chance to assure left-hander Jorge De La Rosa of another rehab start.
De La Rosa, trying to complete a comeback from Tommy John surgery that he underwent last June, will start Monday at Modesto against Bakersfield in the opening game of the Cal League North Division Finals.
De La Rosa, who had two previous rehab assignments halted by inflammation in the arm, but appears to be past that, struck out five in three scoreless innings while pitching for Rookie League Grand Junction on Wednesday. Until Modesto advanced, it wasn't clear how De La Rosa would progress with his rehab.
Manager Jim Tracy said no pitch limit has been set for Monday, but it's likely to be 60-65.
