MINNEAPOLIS -- Center fielder Denard Span took batting practice on the field before Saturday's game against the Indians without any issues, according to Twins manager Ron Gardenhire.
Span, on the disabled list retroactive to Aug. 28 with a sprained SC joint in his right shoulder, took swings in the cages before Friday's game and felt good enough to join his teammates for batting practice on Saturday.
Span is eligible to be activated from the DL on Wednesday, and the Twins remain hopeful he'll come off the DL that day when they host the Royals.
"He was fine," Gardenhire said. "He swung, so that's a good start. We just have to go day to day with him. We'll have to see if he's sore tomorrow. He's eligible on the 12th, so we have a couple days here."
