MLB to host showcase in the Dominican Republic

Major League Baseball will host a showcase of top amateur Dominican players at Tetelo Vargas Stadium in San Pedro de Macoris, Dominican Republic from Thursday, September 13th through Saturday, September 15th.

The showcase will feature a 9:00 a.m. workout followed by a game on September 14th, and will continue with two games played on September 15th beginning at 9:00 a.m.  On September 13th, an orientation program will introduce players to the signing process and will once again educate participating players on the dangers and consequences of using performance-enhancing drugs.  Speakers for the program will include 17-year MLB player and six-time All-Star Moises Alou (.303, 332 HR, 1,287 RBI).

This showcase is the latest in a series of showcases and tournaments previously held internationally that are designed to provide MLB Clubs and scouts with a setting to view and evaluate top eligible amateur players from the Dominican Republic and other countries.
