CARDBOARD TO LEATHER COLLECTION
On Sunday, September 9, the Oriole Advocates will conduct their 2012 Cardboard to Leather™ collection at Oriole Park, presented by Legg Mason. The Oriole Advocates created the program in 1992 to provide new and used baseball and softball equipment to underprivileged youth in developing countries. Since the program started, the Oriole Advocates have distributed over 80 tons of equipment to little league ball players throughout the world in places such as Afghanistan, Aruba, Belgrade, Belize, Cuba, the Dominican Republic, Mexico, Nicaragua, and Venezuela. Fans are encouraged to bring new or gently used baseball equipment to the Orioles game on Sunday to be used in this year's distribution. Financial donations will also be accepted to help with shipping costs.
The Oriole Advocates Charitable Foundation will also conduct a Silent Auction of sports memorabilia at the game on Sunday, in the Home Plate Plaza area on the lower concourse at Camden Yards. Fans will have the chance to bid on baseballs, photos, bats and jerseys autographed by current Oriole stars including CHRIS DAVIS, JJ HARDY, NICK MARKAKIS, MARK REYNOLDS and MATT WIETERS. The bidding begins as low as $25. Funds raised from the auction will be used to support the Oriole Advocates Cardboard to Leather Program™ which this year will be providing baseball equipment to players in Nicaragua, Puerto Rico, and Mexico. Bids will be accepted from noon until 3:00 PM.
In a special ceremony prior to the game, Legg Mason will present the Oriole Advocate Charitable Foundation with a $17,500 contribution for the Cardboard to Leather Equipment Collection and the Baseball Tomorrow Fund will award a grant of $5,000 to the Foundation for the purchase of new equipment.
Proceeds from the collection, silent auction, and check presentations will benefit the following: Matagalpa, La Trinidad, and the Sebaco Little Leagues in Nicaragua; the Recreational Associacions in Arecibo, Guaynabo, and Bairoa, Puerto Rico; and the Levittown Little League in Mexico.

MANNY MACHADO AT AT&T STORE IN SEVERN, MD
On Saturday, September 8, INF MANNY MACHADO will make an appearance at the AT&T store in Severn, MD from 11:00 a.m. - noon. Machado will sign autographs and greet fans. The event is free of charge and open to the public. The store is located at 404 George Clauss Boulevard, Severn, MD 21144.
ORIOLES PLAYERS AND CASEY CARES
On Wednesday, September 12 from 11:00 am – noon, RYAN FLAHERTY, STEVE JOHNSON, NICK MARKAKIS, BRIAN MATUSZ and STEVE TOLLESON will join Casey Cares at the Extra Innings facility in Baltimore and meet, sign autographs and play games with critically ill children and their families. This Caring Connections party is one of the programs of the Casey Cares Foundation, a charity that provides uplifting and on-going programs with a special touch for critically ill children and their families. The Caring Connections Program encourages families to meet, share, and support each other while taking part in themed, group parties. This event is open to the media.
AT THE BALLPARK
MARYLAND FOOD BANK CHECK PRESENTATION
Prior to their game against the Yankees on September 8, Orioles REACH and representatives from WJZ, the Oriole Wives, and the Oriole Advocates will present a check to representatives of the Maryland Food Bank during an on-field ceremony. The Orioles held their annual Food and Funds Drive earlier this season during their June 8-10 series against the Philadelphia Phillies and raised $20,350 in donations and 4,026 pounds of food for the Maryland Food Bank.
ORIOLES PLAYER AND PET CALENDAR PRESENTED BY SOUTHWEST ON SALE
The fourth annual Orioles Player and Pet Calendar, presented by Southwest Airlines, is currently on sale at www.orioles.com. Proceeds from the sale of the calendar, which has sold out each of the last three seasons, will benefit the Baltimore Animal and Rescue Care Shelter (BARCS). The 15-month full-color calendars are $15.
Orioles players were photographed with their pets and with pets up for adoption at BARCS. Many Orioles participated, including manager BUCK SHOWALTER with his Bassett Hounds Sader, Webster, Jasper and Opie; MATT WIETERS with his German Shepherd rescue, Millie, and rescue cats, Omaha & Ducky; ADAM JONES with his Lab mix rescue named Missy; and JJ HARDY with Dutchhess, a Shepherd-Husky mix from BARCS.
BARCS needs over 1,679 adoptions from August 1 to October 31 to be eligible to receive a $100,000 prize from ASPCA’s national Rachael Ray 100K challenge. Adoption fees will be waived during this time. Through this funding, BARCS will be able to assist hundreds of additional animals in need in the Baltimore area. ORIOLES MILITARY APPRECIATION PROGRAM
As part of the Orioles’ Military Appreciation Program, sponsored by GEICO, the Orioles and OriolesREACH donate a catered private suite at each Sunday home game at Oriole Park to servicemen and women. This Sunday, September 9, military members from Army Instructors of the 3rd Battalion 166th Regiment will enjoy the game vs. the New York Yankees from a catered suite and will have an opportunity for a meet and greet with NICK MARKAKIS and MATT WIETERS and receive an Under Armour Player t-shirt.
STEAL SECOND BASE PRESENTED BY ESSKAY
The Orioles will again feature the Steal Second Base contest for every Sunday home game this season. Presented by ESSKAY, the Steal Second Base contest allows a young fan to participate in a timed race from the grounds crew area in center field to retrieve second base. Fans can sign up for the opportunity at the ballpark at any Fan Assistance Center. The lucky winner will receive four tickets to that day’s game, gift certificates to use inside the park, an Orioles jersey and an Orioles prize pack. This year, for the first time, the contestants will also get to keep the authentic base that they steal. This Sunday’s winner is Alyssa Jefferson, an eight year old from Baltimore.
ORIOLES REACH COMMUNITY BOOTH
During each home game the Orioles provide a community booth for charitable, non-profit organizations to distribute information, sell raffle tickets, register participants or conduct health care screenings for Orioles fans. ORIOLES REACH GAMEDAY EXPERIENCE PROGRAM
This season, OriolesREACH will again host thousands of underprivileged youth as part of the OriolesREACH Gameday Experience Program. Group members receive game tickets, concessions vouchers, an Orioles t-shirt, a cap and transportation to and from the game. Tickets are provided courtesy of Orioles players.
