All-Star closer Huston Street will meet the team in Los Angeles on Monday where the Padres will begin a three-game series against the Dodgers. San Diego manager Bud Black said he would have a better idea what the next move is for Street, who has been on the disabled list since August 11 with a strained left calf, following Monday's game. Street was to pitch in a Minor League game on Friday but was scratched after he experienced some soreness in the calf after running last week. The Padres could reinstate him from the disabled list or he could continue his rehabilitation.
The Padres are hoping that third baseman Chase Headley is named the National League Player of the Month for August on Monday. Headley hit .305 with 10 home runs, 20 runs and 31 RBIs. He became just the second player in franchise history to lead the Major Leagues in home runs and RBIs in any month. Ken Caminiti did so in August of 1996.
