Twins recall outfielder Carson from Triple-A
The Twins on Friday recalled right fielder Matt Carson from Triple-A Rochester. He'll take Denard Span's spot on the Twins' active roster, a day after Span went on the disabled list because of a right shoulder injury.

Carson was up with the Twins for five games earlier in August, going 8-for-21 (.381) with a double. The 31-year-old hit .282 with 14 home runs for the Red Wings this season after joining the organization as a free agent in the winter.

Carson played five games with Rochester after he was optioned on Aug. 23 and collected seven hits -- five of them doubles -- in 17 at-bats.

Span went on the disabled list after Thursday's 5-4 loss to Seattle, retroactive to Tuesday.
