Padres host Braves for eleventh homestand

SAN DIEGO – The Padres return home Monday, August 27 for a three-game series against the Atlanta Braves.

Home action begins tonight with a 7:05 p.m. start against the Braves, which marks the first-ever Padres Social Media Night. Approximately 50 fans who took advantage of a Twitter offer for #PadresSocial will participate in the night’s events, including a pre-game batting practice visit and in-game visits by Padres executives and media. The group will interact and watch the game together from a Western Metal suite.

Monday’s pregame ceremony will feature a brief tribute to Atlanta Braves third baseman Chipper Jones, recognizing his final career visit to Petco Park.

Prior to Tuesday’s game, the Padres will recognize local youth baseball and softball All-Star teams, including the Little League Senior World Series runners up from Lemon Grove Little League.

The homestand wraps up Wednesday with a 3:35 p.m. start against the Braves, featuring a special pregame ceremony recognizing members of Disabled American Veterans who are also part of the San Diego Chapter of Buffalo Soldiers.  These local veterans are dedicated to preserving the history of 9th and 10th Horse Cavalry, comprised of the first African-Americans to serve during peacetime following the Civil War.

Members of the cast of Broadway SD’s Les Misérables will perform the National Anthem Wednesday. The show runs from August 28 to September 2 at the San Diego Civic Theater.

Tickets for all remaining regular season home games can be purchased online at padres.com, at the Petco Park box office, by phone at (619) 795-5555 and at the Padres Store in Tijuana.
