MEMPHIS -- The So Cal Outlaws Black almost didn't get to Memphis. And it's not because of a lucky call that went the club's way.
Before the season, the Outlaws joined with the San Diego Stars. But because of the distance between the two teams -- the Outlaws are based in Chino Hills, Calif. -- it didn't last. About a quarter of the way through the season, the Outlaws players, coaches and families had to decide whether they would give up the season or get new players and continue.
They opted not to quit, and now, they're two wins way from a national title.
"We're good team that has stuck through some adversity and is now one step away from that championship game," manager Adrian Banales said. "They have some desire and heart, and the name on the chest means a whole lot."
