Nationals outfielder Jorge Padilla hit a two-run homer and Rich Townsend and Edwards Guzman drove in two runs apiece to help Arecibo hold off a late rally. Brad Mumma allowed two runs on five hits over 5 2/3 innings to pick up his first win. Red Sox third baseman Jorge Jimenez went 3-for-4 with two RBIs to raise his average to .347 for Mayaguez. Caguas 9, Carolina 2
Cesar Crespo went 3-for-4 with a two-run homer, Nationals outfielder Garrett Guzman added three hits and two RBIs and Miguel Negron (White Sox) hit his first homer to give Caguas the edge. Former Brewers farmhand Vince Perkins allowed a run on four hits over five innings to earn the win. Carolina starter Josue Matos was reached for six runs -- four earned -- on nine hits over 3 1/3 frames to suffer his second loss.
Ponce 9, Santurce 1
Astros outfielder Reggie Abercrombie drove in two runs and Santurce native Raul Gonzalez (Mets) went 2-for-5 with an RBI to help Ponce cruise to victory. Michael Antonini hurled two hitless innings for the win after fellow Mets prospect Dillon Gee began the game with a pair of hitless frames. Geraldo Valentin (Mariners) drove in the lone run for Santurce in the seventh.
Venezuelan Winter League
La Guaira 5, Aragua 2 (Game 1)
Royals first baseman Juan Richardson went 3-for-4 with four RBIs to help the Tiburones hang on in the first game of a doubleheader. San Diego starter Enrique Gonzalez allowed two runs on three hits over 5 1/3 innings to get his fifth win. Aragua starter Horacio Estrada was charged with four runs -- one earned -- on four hits over four innings to fall to 5-3.
Aragua 8, La Guaira 5 (Game 2)
Ramon Castro went 3-for-4 with his first homer in 18 games to help Aragua earn a split of their doubleheader. Luis Maza (Dodgers) and Wilson Ramos (Twins) homered and Astros catcher Pedro Gonzalez added a pinch-hit RBI double for Aragua. Renny Osuna (Rangers), Ruben Salazar and Johny Celis (White Sox) each had two hits and an RBI for the Tiburones. Angel Tovar allowed three runs on four hits over 2/3 of an inning for the loss. Mike Morse (Mariners) went 3-for-5 with two RBIs, Francisco Cervelli (Yankees) drove in two runs and Luis Jimenez (Nationals) went 3-for-3 with an RBI to power Lara. Willis Otanez fell a triple shy of the cycle and drove in two runs and Jesus Merchan, who signed with the Indians last week, fell a homer shy of the cycle for Magallanes. Box score

Giants prospect Jesus Guzman lined a two-run single in the eighth to set a new Venezuelan Winter League single-season record with 67 RBIs for the Leones in their road loss. Guzman tied Pete Koegel's 1973-74 mark on Saturday with his 65th RBI against Maragarita. Javier Brito (Diamondbacks) fell a triple shy of the cycle and Blake Ochoa (Rangers) smacked a three-run homer and a two-run shot and finished with five RBIs for Margarita.
Zulia 11, Caribes 8 (11 innings)
Rodney Medina hit a go-ahead RBI single and Juan Camacho added a two-run double as Zulia scored three times in the 11th to take the lead. Medina went 4-for-6 with four RBIs, Juan Camacho drove in three runs and Diamondbacks prospect Gerardo Parra went 3-for-5 with a pair of solo homers for Zulia. Former Major Leaguer Luis Gonzalez hit a three-run homer for Caribes. Former second-round pick Jeff Farnsworth struck out 10 and allowed four runs on nine hits over six innings in the start for Caribes.
Mexican Winter League
Hermosilla 8, Obregon 5 (16 innings)
Rodrigo Aguirre hit a go-ahead sacrifice fly in the 16th inning before Jose Sandoval added his second homer of the night to give Hermosilla the win in a game that finished just shy of six hours. Sandoval went 3-for-7 with five RBIs thanks to a two-run shot off Allan Ramirez in the 16th and a two-run drive in the fourth off Obregon starter Justin Lehr (Reds). Former Major Leaguer Karim Garcia added three hits and a solo homer in the win. Former Braves farmhand Iker Franco wen 4-for-6 with five RBIs and two walks to lead Obregon. Lehr allowed five runs -- three earned -- over six frames.
Mochis 6, Mexicali 0
Rafael Diaz and two relievers combined on a one-hitter to lead Mochis at home. Diaz struck out four, walked three and allowed just one hit, a single to Benji Gil. Angels prospect Francisco Rodriguez struck out two over 2 2/3 frames before Esteban Hernandez recorded the final four outs for Mochis. Pedro Diaz, Jesse Gutierrez and White Sox outfielder Jason Bourgeois homered in the victory.
Navojoa 4, Culiacan 2
Javier Robles went 2-for-4 with a homer and two RBIs in support of starter Alejandro Armenta, who allowed two runs on six hits over eight innings for his second win. Efren Espinoza clubbed a solo homer for Culiacan.
