Astros announce plans for Legends Weekend

HOUSTON, TX - The Houston Astros 50th Anniversary celebration, presented by The Methodist Hospital System, culminates with Legends Weekend, September 21-23. The weekend includes three giveaways: the replica Colt .45s jersey (including the revolver), presented by Landry’s, on Friday, Sept. 21, the Shooting Star replica jersey, presented by Xfinity, on Saturday, Sept. 22, and the Rainbow replica jersey, presented by Farmers Insurance, on Sunday, Sept. 23. On the field for each game, the Astros will wear the same jersey as the giveaway.

The Astros Legends Luncheon will be held on Saturday, September 22 at 11:00 a.m. The Luncheon is a main feature of Legends Weekend and will include a multitude of Astros alumni, with appearances by some of the all-time greats in franchise history. Also highlighted will be members of the club’s all-time 25-man roster. Tickets are now available for the luncheon and can be purchased online at

Craig Biggio will be on hand to throw out the ceremonial first pitch on Friday to kick off the weekend, as the final member of the alumni first pitch series. Biggio, a seven-time All-Star and four-time Rawlings Gold Glove Award winner, played his entire 20-year career with the Astros and is just one of 28 players in Major League Baseball history to have collected 3,000 hits.

Prior to Saturday night’s game, the Astros will hold a special pregame ceremony for all attending alumni with a special tribute to the all-time 25-man roster, which was chosen by a panel of experts and fans earlier this season. Every member of the 25-man roster and their families have been invited back for the weekend. The 25-man roster will be formally announced in the upcoming days.
