White Sox recall Veal from Charlotte

Prior to tonight's game at Toronto, the Chicago White Sox recalled left-handed pitcher Donnie Veal from Class AAA Charlotte.

Veal, 27, takes the roster spot of outfielder Jordan Danks, who was optioned to Charlotte following yesterday's game vs. Oakland.

The 6-foot-4 and 240-pounder has gone 7-3 with a 2.08 ERA (12 ER/52.0 IP) and 61 strikeouts in 35 relief appearances with Charlotte this season, limiting opponents to a .211 (40-190) average.  He went 17.1 IP without allowing an earned run from April 26-June 6.

Veal also was with the White Sox from July 19-22, throwing 1.2 scoreless IP with three strikeouts in two relief appearances.

Veal will wear uniform No. 46.
