World Series parade noon Friday

PHILADELPHIA -- First came the World Series championship. Now it's time for the parade.

Complete Coverage

The Phillies and Philadelphia Mayor Michael A. Nutter will hold a news conference Thursday at Citizens Bank Park to announce details of a parade to be held Friday. The parade will originate at noon at 20th and Market Streets and travel south down Broad Street, ending at the sports complex.

"Phillies fans have been waiting 28 years for this day," Nutter said in a statement issued following Wednesday's Game 5 clincher. "We deserve this win. I can't wait to share this day with Phillies fans from across the city, state, and even country."

For 45-year-old Phillies pitcher Jamie Moyer, who grew up in Sellersville, Pa., and went to college at St. Joseph's in Philadelphia, the parade will be the culmination of a lifelong affection for the city.

"This is a dream come true," Moyer said in an on-field interview with FOX following the game. "Being at the parade in '80, and now we're going to be in a parade sometime later this week, it's all been worth it. We battled all season long and everybody played well this season. We've had our ups and downs like every club has, and we were able to stay healthy and battle through it, and here we are."
