All hands on deck in Rays' bullpen

ST. PETERSBURG -- Heading into Game 7 of the American League Championship Series, the Rays' bullpen will be swelling with available arms.

When asked about which pitchers will be on call for duty Sunday night, manager Joe Maddon said: "Everybody is available."

Maddon showed reporters his lineup card, and Game 6 starter James Shields' name was the only one printed in red ink. There were no other names below a line on the card.

"Normally, we mark the other starting pitchers below [the line]," Maddon said, pointing out the significance of how the names appear on the card. "Tomorrow's starting pitcher is always in red. [On the Game 7 lineup card], everybody else is above.

"With us, we pretty much have all the pitchers available tonight. Of course, all the players are on a nightly basis. You just have a few more pitchers available to you than you would normally have."

Despite having the extras, Maddon will likely depend more on his regular bullpen guys.

"If you get into the latter moments of the game, you're probably going to work with your normal guys because they've done it before. I think the extra guys are more permanent, something very early or something very late, like extra innings. You really want to guard against trying to become too smart or trying anything radically different. You just have more pitchers available to you tonight."
