The Tampa Bay Rays begin a six-game homestand against two American League East opponents on Friday, August 3 with a three-game series against the Baltimore Orioles (August 3-5) followed by a three-game set with the Toronto Blue Jays (August 7-9).
On Sunday, August 5, The Wiggles will perform a concert following the Rays-Orioles game scheduled for 1:40 p.m. as part of the popular Rays Summer Concert Series. Known as “Your Child’s First Rock Band,” The Wiggles have achieved worldwide success with their children’s albums, videos, television series and concert appearances. Formed in Sydney, Australia in 1991, The Wiggles are known around the world for combining music and theories of child development in their videos, television programs and live shows. They have earned 17 gold, 12 platinum, three double-platinum and 10 multi-platinum awards for sales of over 17 million DVDs and four million CDs. The Wiggles were named Business Review Weekly’s top-earning Australian entertainers for four straight years and in 2002 became the Australian Broadcasting Corporation’s (ABC) most successful pre-school television program of all time. The Wiggles have won two Australian Performing Right Association (APRA) songwriting awards and multiple Australian Record Industry Association (ARIA) awards for Best Children’s Release in 1995, ’96 and ’98.
This marks the fifth season of the Rays Summer Concert Series produced by Ruth Eckerd Hall on the Road.
Also on Sunday, August 5, the Rays will host their first-ever Bark in the Park event at Tropicana Field during the Rays-Orioles game at 1:40 p.m. A special seating area is reserved for dog owners and their pets, and the tbt* Party Deck will turn into the “Dog Zone,” with product samples, an SPCA of Tampa Bay pet adoption booth and activities for both dogs and their owners. Bark in the Park seating has sold out, but regular game tickets are still available.
The homestand will feature two unique giveaways. On Friday, August 3, the first 10,000 fans will receive a free Luke Scott collectible T-shirt presented by Tampa Bay Times. Collectible T-shirts will be distributed throughout the season as part of Friday Fest presented by Captain Morgan. On Sunday, August 5, the first 10,000 kids 14 and under will receive a DJ Kitty bobblehead presented by Chevrolet.
