Free-agent Minor League shortstop Diory Paulino has received a 50-game suspension without pay after testing positive for a performance-enhancing substance, the Commissioner's Office announced on Monday.
Paulino tested positive for metabolites of Boldenone, which is a violation of the Minor League Drug Prevention and Treatment Program.
The 18-year-old played in two games for the Red Sox's Dominican Summer League affiliate this year, going 1-for-8. His suspension will go into effect as soon as he signs with another Major League organization.
