• The Nationals signed free-agent right-hander Mike MacDougal to a Minor League contract and assigned him to Triple-A Syracuse. The 35-year-old reliever made seven appearances for the Dodgers this season, posting a 7.94 ERA. He went 3-1 with a 2.05 ERA over 57 innings last year for Los Angeles.

• The Nationals unconditionally released outfielder Xavier Nady on Sunday. Nady was designated for assignment on July 21 when Washington recalled left-hander John Lannan. The 33-year-old was sidelined by a right wrist injury and batted .157 in 40 games with the Nationals this season.

• With their 60th win of the season on Saturday night, the Nationals became the first Washington-based team to win at least 60 of their first 100 games since the 1933 Senators (64-36), according to the Elias Sports Bureau.

The Nats have also already won more games this year than they did in 2008 or '09, when they won 59 games each season.

• Saturday night's 4-1 win over the Brewers was Johnson's 100th as the Nationals' manager. Johnson carried a 100-83 record with Washington into Sunday's series finale at Milwaukee.
