Tommy Field recalled from Triple-A Colorado Springs
DENVER – The Colorado Rockies announced today that the club has recalled infielder Tommy Field from Triple-A Colorado Springs. Field (#36) will be in uniform and available for tonight’s Rockies vs. Reds game at Coors Field (6:10 p.m. MDT).
Field, 25, has spent the entire 2012 season to date with the Colorado Springs Sky Sox, where he is batting .254 (84-for-331) with 21 doubles, 5 triples, 7 home runs, 35 RBI and 58 runs in 91 games. Field has played the entire season as the Sky Sox regular shortstop. The Austin, TX native made his Major League debut with Colorado in September of 2011, when he hit .271 (13-for-48) with 3 RBI and 4 runs scored in 16 games. Field has 64 doubles and 39 home runs over his last three Minor League seasons, since 2010. The middle infielder was named the 27th-best prospect in Colorado’s organization prior to the 2012 season by Baseball America. Field was originally drafted by Colorado in the 24th round of the 2008 First-Year Player Draft out of Texas State University.
