Astros claim Chuckie Fick off waivers

Houston Astros General Manager Jeff Luhnow announced today that the club has claimed right-handed pitcher Chuckie Fick off waivers from the St. Louis Cardinals. Fick will report to the Major League club tonight. The Astros will make a corresponding roster move after he reports.

Fick, 26, made two appearances for the Cardinals this season over a five-day stint (May 26-30), posting no record and a 5.40 ERA (1ER/1.2IP). He’s spent the majority of this season with Triple A Memphis, posting a 1-1 record with one save and a 4.68 ERA (22ER/42.1IP) in 42 relief appearances. The Cardinals designated him for assignment on Wednesday. A 15th-round selection by St. Louis in 2007, Fick has posted a 23-17 record with five saves and a 3.35 ERA (156ER/419IP) in six seasons (2007-12) in the Cardinals minor league system.

With the acquisition of Fick, the Astros 40-man roster is now full.
